# Image consistency and editing

> Use a clean base image and the editing models to preserve the features that matter.

Text-to-image models vary details from one generation to the next. Stronger prompt weights can reduce some variation, but excessive weights introduce artifacts and still do not guarantee an identical face, tattoo, or outfit.

For important visual continuity, build a reusable base image and edit from it.

## Build a clean base

Generate an image containing only the features you need to preserve:

* A clear, unobstructed face.
* A neutral pose.
* Simple lighting.
* A plain or uncomplicated background.
* No temporary outfit or prop unless it is part of the character's identity.

Choose the result with the best face and body foundation, even if the scene is plain. You are selecting source material, not the final artwork.

## Add details with image editing

Use the editing models according to the change:

| Model   | Best suited to                                                  |
| ------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Spark   | Outfits, backgrounds, accessories, tattoos, and other SFW edits |
| Eclipse | Unrestricted or anatomical edits                                |

Start from the clean base and add one major category at a time:

1. Stable markings such as tattoos or piercings.
2. Outfit.
3. Pose or action.
4. Background and lighting.

If an edit changes the face, return to the last good image and simplify the instruction.

## Reuse, but limit edit chains

An edited result can become the source for the next edit. Quality generally degrades over repeated generations, so avoid a long chain of small fixes. After roughly four sequential edits, compare against the original base and consider restarting from it.

Keep a small set of sources:

* Original neutral base.
* Base with stable markings.
* One or two successful signature looks.

This gives you clean starting points for new scenes without repeatedly editing an already degraded image.

## Keep permanent prompts lean

Do not solve every consistency problem by adding another permanent character prompt. Permanent clothing can force the same outfit into unrelated scenes. Permanent body-part prompts can force framing that shows those features in every image.

Use character fields for identity, presets for reusable scene elements, and image editing when exact visual continuity matters.
