# Publish a public character

> Prepare a complete, accurate character submission for the curated public catalog.

Public characters can be discovered and used by the whole ourdream community. The library is curated, so meeting the numerical minimums makes a submission eligible for review but does not guarantee approval.

Keep a character **Private** or **Unlisted** until its appearance, greeting, scenario, and behavior have been tested together.

## Public character requirements

Replace generic AI-generated copy with writing specific to your character. Reviewers should be able to see deliberate work in the Public Description, Greeting, Scenario, Additional Personality Details, and Extra Details.

| Field | Minimum | Maximum |
| ---------------------------------------------- | ------------------------: | --------------------------: |
| Public Description | 200 characters | 2,000 characters |
| Greeting | 50 characters | 10,000 characters |
| Scenario | 1,000 characters | 50,000 characters |
| Additional Personality Details + Extra Details | 1,200 characters combined | 50,000 + 100,000 characters |

An exceptionally well-written greeting may be reviewed on its merits, but you should normally meet every minimum before submitting.

## What quality looks like

Reviewers look at the whole experience:

* The profile image is distinctive, clear, and relevant to the scenario.
* The Public Description accurately explains the character and gives users a reason to open it.
* The Greeting establishes a scene and gives the user a useful hook.
* The Scenario contains enough situation, world, and tension to sustain a conversation.
* The personality describes real behavior beyond physical traits or kinks.
* The image prompt generates reliable, coherent results.
* The character offers something meaningfully different from existing public characters.

One strong profile image can be enough when it has a deliberate composition, background, and non-generic pose. A simple pose against a blank background is more likely to read as unfinished.

## Public group chats

Public group chats use already approved characters, so reviewers focus on the shared scenario rather than repeating each character review.

| Field | Minimum |
| ------------------------- | ------------------------: |
| Public Description | 200 characters |
| Premise + Private Details | 1,000 characters combined |

Write a shared premise that gives every character a role and explains why the group is together. Individual character scenarios are ignored inside the group chat, so any essential situation must be present in the group fields.

## Before you submit

1. Chat with the character from at least three different opening messages.
2. Generate images using several unrelated poses and outfits.
3. Search the public catalog for close duplicates.
4. Read every field once as a new user would.
5. Check the [content review guide](/publishing/content-review).
6. Regenerate after your final edits so the latest changes are saved.
7. Set visibility to **Public** and submit for review.

<Note>
Public approval is not a judgement of your worth or creativity. A polished
character can still be too narrow, too similar to an existing entry, or
  inconsistent with the public library.
